Poor Quality for Price

I purchased this jacket on Black Friday after finally outgrowing my North Face that I had for 6 years. The only positive of this jacket is that it looks nice. Other than that, there are major issues. The hood is connected by buttons which constantly pop off so I've almost lost my hood multiple times. The jacket itself is not that warm so prepared to have to dress in layers, which means go up a size. The worst part is the zipper. Every time you take it on or off the zipper gets caught in the fabric. It does not matter how slow or how careful you are, it still gets caught. And it's not an easy fix either, you really have to work it to pull it out of the fabric. There were times where I had to get an additional person to help me because it was so stuck. Today it actually fell off the jacket and is now on the wrong side, so it's basically unusable. I had a north face for 6 years with not ONE issue so I'm seriously regretting this purchase.

Plastic zippers are cheap, low quality and now broken on this coat. Replacement zipper will cost me $45.Why did you CHEAP OUT on this integral part of this parka? So not right EB!

This coat keeps me extremely warm, BUT

I love this coat, it's helped me survive winters in both Western New York and Vermont. My one gripe is that the snap-off hood is almost too detachable. Every time I pull my hood up at least one of the buttons unsnaps.

Cold Weather Gal

Great parka - TERRIBLE zipper - not worth the struggle

I live in MN and buy Eddie Bauer coats whenever I need one. They are great for cold and wear well, I've never had any issues with the coats I've had previously. This coat is just as good quality down and comfort, etc. But the zipper design is atrocious and has gotten stuck on me over a dozen times in the past month and a half or so I've had it. And I'm not talking about something a quick tug fixes. No, it grabs that small bit of seamed fabric that lies immediately next to the zipper like it's locked down with glue. Minutes of struggle later I can get it to let go, but alas - the next attempt to zip 9 times out of 10 results in that same stupid little piece of fabric doing the same thing. Nothing makes me feel better than standing around STUCK IN MY COAT in public (because, yes, it also happens when you're unzipping on random occasion). Or, most recently, having to CLIMB OUT OF MY COAT and wear something not appropriate for the cold just to get on with life and get my kids to practice on time. I will try to return it and I hope that goes OK - from here on out the fabric flap has to either completely cover the zipper or be completely absent for me. I'm so disappointed. This has literally been a painful experience for me with my hands ending up completely chewed up after fighting with this zipper. If they reproduced this coat with no tiny zipper covering flap or a long completely zipper-covering flap, I'd buy it. But as is, I'd not recommended it to anyone.
