Perfection Evolved. Version 2.0 of our premium ultralight has an improved fit that's more comfortable, mobile, and flattering, with more room in the chest; a slightly longer length for added coverage and warmth; a softer fabric to further enhance the comfort; and a secure drawcord hem to seal out cold and fine-tune the fit.

As an ultralight insulating layer, the MicroTherm is thinner than traditional down jackets. But that combination of minimal bulk and effective warmth is what makes it special, and is the result of its patented construction and the exceptionally high-loft StormDown that it holds close to the body for maximum thermal efficiency.

"The MicroTherm Hoodie is so light and compact, I can take it everywhere without even realizing it's there, yet I can rely on it to keep me comfortable and sheltered from the cold."
Caroline George, Eddie Bauer Alpine Guide

My Staple Outdoors Coat - BUY IT - you wont regret it

I cannot say enough about this coat. I have had it in black for 2 years and I am buying another one. I sail, backpack, ski, and travel - this coat ALWAYS comes with me. It is great on its own (35 degrees resting - 15 degrees active), but I am a very cold person, so I use it as a midlayer under my EB rain coat to make a warm winter coat when needed (20 degrees resting - 0 degrees active). Its water resistant, so when I am backpacking and it starts to rain, I can put in a few miles before I need to stop and put my raincoat on over it. I have no worries about the down getting wet. It packs down small enough for me to take it on a plane (I use it as my pillow when travelling). I wore it backpacking in Northern Iceland. It helped keep me warm on top of fjords (wind chill in the teens), and when we got back to Reykjavik it seamlessly transitioned into coat that I can wear with black pants and flats to dinner. I have really put this coat through the wringer. It has probably been on over 50 rigorous trips both in the outdoors and to foreign countries. I also wear it out and about in my everyday life. The feathers have started to poke through the seams in places, so it is time for a new one, but I am happy with how well it held up considering the wear and tear.

Trail to Town

Had really hoped this would be 'the one'

Last year I bought the 2018 version. Really liked it for its packability and lightweigtness as i primarily used it for travel. I bought the fawn colour which wasn't white or gray or brown...just right. BUT (and a major "but" for me) was the lack of a draw cord at the hem. Since the shape of the jacket (still is on 2019) is quite boxy, cold air would just fly up and cool me right down on. So when i saw that EB had changed this and added the hemcord to this year's version, I returned my old one for the new one. (They no longer carried the colour I preferred so i went with white even though it's not ideal in winter or traveling.) BUT ...the zipper is so unsubstantial, it unzipped the first time i used it. So...i returned it and have ordered a similar jacket from another outdoor sport line.

Not warm

New technology is boasted as being thinner but just as warm. But I found this product to be lacking in that regard. It is very thin, that is true, but I wore it in my house and was cold. No surprise I was cold outside as well. No warm inside lining and no thickness to keep in the warmth. The idea that increasing your body temperature will warm up the jacket never happened for me. I took a walk outside and I was cold. (Outted temp was in the 40s).

Cold Hoosier

Very dissappointed

I felt that the color and quality were not acceptable. On line it said it was a newer warmer version. Maybe I was sent the wrong coat so I am returning it. I am very disappointed with the color and quality. It did not seem like an Eddie Bauer item.
