This is my third Eddie Bauer jacket for skiing. All were the 3-in-1 type jacket, which is the only kind I buy. Things are too changeable to stock my ski locker with multiple jackets. The first was the best (no longer available) -- a whole system of liners and vests that could zip in to the shell. That lasted a good long time. The second, I think it was a Mountain-something model, only lasted three seasons before the zipper, one of those waterproof coil types, came apart, detaching from its tape. I've learned now not to buy that kind of zipper! The thread holding the coil just wore out! So, mid season I suddenly had to replace the jacket. This jacket at least has a different type of zipper. However, it is longer, and really needs to unzip from the bottom so I can sit in the car. Also, the powder skirt is blocked from being usable by the liner. You'd have to remove the liner to hook it to itself. If I don't need the liner, it's spring, not a powder day! You could use the liner not as a liner, but an inner layer by detaching it from the shell, I suppose. I also miss having a chest pocket for my phone. Now it is in my sleeve pocket, which is annoying and not as warm. The inner pockets do not have zippers. Yes, they are deep, but if I'm going had over heels in snow, I don't want to lose my phone, I want a secure pocket. The main reason I buy Eddie Bauer is I need a larger size and other brands don't offer what I want in anything remotely my size. If this jacket doesn't hold up, I'll be looking around, but where? I don't feel the quality is what it used to be. I've had to sew the lining to my ski pants (also EB) because it was just melting away. My first Eddie Bauer parka I had for 40 years!
