Perfection Evolved. Version 2.0 of our premium ultralight has an improved fit that's more comfortable and mobile, a slightly longer length for added coverage and warmth, a softer fabric to further enhance the comfort, and a secure drawcord hem to seal out cold and fine-tune the fit.

As an ultralight insulating layer, the MicroTherm is thinner than traditional down jackets. But that combination of minimal bulk and effective warmth is what makes it special, and is the result of its patented construction and the exceptionally high-loft StormDown that it holds close to the body for maximum thermal efficiency.

Gorgeous colors. Quality jacket.

Hubby couldn't be happier. Thank god for EB's xlt size!

Sub-par jacket

First off I am a long time customer of EB and own several of their winter outerwear products and have enjoyed the quality and fit of all of them....until this jacket1. Sizing, I wear a medium and have been for a number of years now, and my build can be judged as normal to athletic fit when I buy my clothing and as a reference all my EB jackets are sized medium with enough room for movement around the chest and shoulder. This one was not, when I zipped it close with just a polo shirt underneath it was very very tight around the shoulder and lower chest area. I had plenty in waste area to cinch it down if needed but there was no way I could layer with the fit2. The outer shell material felt flimsy and week and possibly evident by the down that was sticking through the stitching on my new jacket. My reference is a 2016 and 2018 down hooded jacket I purchased which have never let me "down" and still holds their life extremely well backpacking through china, korea, and northern vietnam . My opinion, sizing is a big problem unless you are a slim fit or quality control is none and EB is trying to save money by using less materials in construction

Delivers on product attributes... but one major flaw.

The MicroTherm jacket delivers on almost all fronts. It looks great. The design of he pockets are well conceived. Even includes a media cord portal. It is very light weight and warm. Packs well. Great so far!! But there is one major flaw in the design of this jacket worth noting. The outside shell is so delicate that after just one wearing, the feathers started to poke through the material. Further, after a walk in a suburban neighborhood woods, a gentle brush with a pine tree limb caused a 2" rip on the back shoulder. I can only imagine the outcome if this were a harsh alpine environment as the StormDown product feature suggests. This product flaw would be unlikely if the outside design included a 'rip-stop' materials component. Botton line: I so wanted this jacket to be utilitarian and a 'go to' for all occasions. Unfortunately it just isn't. Pretty disappointing.

A jacket that fits!

The stitching is great, and although it is shedding, Eddie Bauers warranty means it can shed all it wants. I am 6'4 with a fairly large wingspan, and the Tall Large fits incredible. At my size great fit is really hard to find, but I couldn't be happier with the jacket. The hood fits over my climbing helmet as well for days out ice climbing. There is stretchy fabric under the armpit to allow for easy overhead swinging of the ice tools as well.
