Great, but could be improved.

Let me start by saying I really like these boots. Hands down, the most comfortable boot I have ever worn straight out of the box, and I have worn more boots than I care to remember. They look fantastic too and are holding up very well. I have worn them almost daily for nearly 2 months and only see very little sole wear and no leather stress lines. Sizing is spot on, as with most EB items. For reference, I wear a 10.5 Nike tennis shoe, a 9.5 Reebok tennis, and an 8.5/9 in Wolverine boots (that brand is known to run large). I ordered 9.5 in this boot and it is perfect. I took a star off for two reasons, one of which is not EB's fault at all and is my personal preference. First, the laces are barely long enough to thread through each eye and then tie a knot in. This makes it impossible to put them on or off, without unlacing to at least the 3rd eyelet. That makes it way more time consuming than it needs to be to wear them. Basically, if you need to put your shoes on in a hurry, ie, emergency or running late to work, just find another pair to wear. Longer laces or speed eyelets at the top 3 would easily solve this problem. Second, and this is not EB's fault at all: the available colors/shades leave much to be desired. A much darker brown with the contrasting cream sole would have made these boots killer looking! Unfortunately, the wheat color is even lighter in person than it appears online. Even after a heavy coat of mink oil, they did not darken much. I have already started to look into leather dye to try and make them darker. As they are I have a pair of boots that I really like but are not perfect.

High quality boot.

I opted to buy these instead of resoling (costly) my old Red Wings. Worth the try because of EB sale pricing for this high quality boot. I haven't worn them on trail yet, but here are my initial comments: 1) very high quality construction like my old Red Wings; 2) true to size; 3) slightly wider at forefoot than standard D width, but I like it because my foot is not a full E-Wide width (may not fit well for a narrow foot); 4) no speed lacing, but I bought for the high top (I'm expecting less debris into my boots than the ankle cuffs height common of hiking boots) and more ankle support for long days on the trail; 5) the removable foot beds allow me to use my 3rd party insoles for a fit fit; and, 6) extremely comfortable after wearing around the house for the first/initial 5 hours right out of the box (a good sign). Looking forward to putting these boots onto the trail this early spring.

Solid boots so far, great value

I normally wear a size 10.5, ended up with an 11 in these boots. They were a bit short and slightly narrow. They're comfortable, well cushioned, foot bed is replaceable. Vibram sole is thick and has good traction. Boots will be used for walking on flat trails in the snow. As others have mentioned, speed laces at the top and a higher tongue gusset would be an improvement.Overall the boots are good and I'd recommend them.
