This is a great jacket for the money. It runs a bit large for the size, so if you want to layer this with a fleece or even a thin down jacket there is room. The down side is that if you bought this to wear over a T shirt, it will be a bit large. The other thing is that the inside of the jacket is plasticky. That may bother some people. But that is the price you pay for the lightness and low cost of a 2.5 layer jacket. A full 3 layer jacket gives yo a nice interior, but costs more and weighs more. My medium is very light at 8.4 ounces. I've used it for a rain jacket. I've also used it as a light weight shell, over a fleece and an Eddie Bauer MicroTherm down hoodie when walking a ridge above the tree line in the White Mountains in November. The pairing of the MicroTherm and this jacket is a very versatile combination. It can keep you comfortable and dry from 60 degrees down to 25 degrees with blowing wind. As a point of reference, I'm 5'8" and 180 lbs athletically built. The Medium Microtherm hoodie is snug, just right. The medium cloudcap is cut looser and easily fits over the medium Microtherm.
