Good Jacket for Bad Weather

4

Based on other EB gear, I first bought a size large--I am 5'11", 175#, and I was swimming in the thing. Sure, you want it to be large enough for layers, but this was like a XL on me. Then the medium came: better, but a bit tight across the shoulders....not bad for walking, but working around camp etc, maybe a bit snug. I'm keeping it, though, because it seems a great jacket for the deal price I got for it.

Why I love eddie bauer's

I have been buying Eddie Bauer's products for years. And the main reason that I like Eddie Bauer's so much , is their no hassle return policy. I love the fact , that if I am not satisfied , I can return the product with no problem.

hood tight with helmet

I was looking for a shell that used the eVent fabric. I find this material less sweaty than gore tex and need to replace my old eVent shell. I tried both the Medium and Large jackets. Both restricted my head movement when turning my head side to side when wearing a helmet. I do wear an XL helmet so others may not have a problem, but this is not normally a problem with other coats. The coat is expensive if not on sale.

Amazing outer shell in the rain and wind

5

I took one of these jackets on a fishing trip to northern Quebec. We had some pretty nasty heavy rain and then a light foggy drizzle all day with temps just close to freezing. The rain will not penetrate this jacket, it's amazing it just beads and rolls off no matter how heavy the rain or thin the fog droplets. I wore it over a down light jacket mid layer and it was super comfortable and warm. It really is more of a shell jacket for rain, snow or wind protection. My only complaint is that the material is a bit stiff if you are active and makes noise moving in it. If wearing in the rain, best to wear a baseball cap as it doesn't quite have a long enough hood to extend over your face in wind-driven rain. It's also a bit pricey but I have to say it's the best rain protection jacket I've ever had.
