Live Your Adventure®

A super-versatile, lightweight, 3-layer waterproof jacket made for alpine adventures in all seasons. WeatherEdge® Flux, powered by eVent® technology, provides complete waterproof protection and superior breathability.

"My group ascended from the base area at Crystal in a heavy snowstorm. After the first 20 minutes of skinning uphill, everyone else was wet, either from sweat or from the snow melting and soaking through their jackets. The precip was beading on my jacket and the breathability allowed me to keep relatively cool while ascending."
Seth Waterfall, Eddie Bauer Alpine Climbing Guide, after testing the BC Alpine Lite while teaching an Avalanche Level 1 course at Crystal Mountain Ski Area, Washington state

Awesome jacket, if you're short to average height

This jacket is supposed to be a replacement for my Large-tall BC200 that I've used for years. But it just won't work without tall sizing. I sure want to love this jacket. It's lightweight, waterproof, and the design is quite functional. But the latest version don't fit anyone taller than 6' tall. For some reason Eddie Bauer recently decided tall/long length technical rain shells are unnecessary. Strangely, XXL they carry, but not large-tall. Which is weird, because I see a heck of a lot more 6'+ tall climbers, hikers, and skiers than I do 5'-11", 300lb participants of those activities. If you're tall and you climb or ski in wet weather, you can remove First Ascent from consideration. Which is sad. The funny thing is, Eddie Bauer has always carried tall rain shells, maybe in because of all the work they did with the very tall Whittaker family on the original American Everest expedition, and then again with Peter Whittaker on the First Ascent launch five or 10 years ago.For the past 30 years, I've been able to count on getting a tall-length technical jacket from EB. But for the past two winters they've skunked me. My current tall first ascent shell is in tatters and I'll be forced to go to another brand. On the positive side: if I wake up some morning having shrunk 5" and gained 100lbs, I know I'll be able to find First Ascent "climbing" gear that fits.

Good, except where the label is

This jacket is waterproof/breathable as claimed except where the label is. Every time I have worn the jacket I get a wet patch just below my neck on my back that corresponds exactly where the label is. Is it possible to make this jacket so that the label is breathable as well? Also a two way zipper would make it ideal.

Great Coat

Purchased this coat for our trip to Scotland in September and have been testing it out in the summer rains here in Chicago. So far so good. Nice, light weight coat. Rain (even heavy rain) beads right off it. Wind resistant and yet, when wearing it in a rain storm where it was still warm out, did not overheat. I'm looking forward to trying it out in the Scottish highlands.

Great very light weight waterproof and super breathable shell jacket. On sale, the value is much better than similar jackets made by other companies. It fits as described, close to the body and designed to fit over a lightweight mid layer, and it looks really good. However, I wanted it to fit over mid and heavier weight mid layers, which made it very tight - so I exchanged for a size up (large to xl). It doesn't look quite as sharp with light mid layers, but along with hem cord, it will do the job well. Using for hiking, snowshoeing, and perhaps some biking.
