This jacket is supposed to be a replacement for my Large-tall BC200 that I've used for years. But it just won't work without tall sizing. I sure want to love this jacket. It's lightweight, waterproof, and the design is quite functional. But the latest version don't fit anyone taller than 6' tall. For some reason Eddie Bauer recently decided tall/long length technical rain shells are unnecessary. Strangely, XXL they carry, but not large-tall. Which is weird, because I see a heck of a lot more 6'+ tall climbers, hikers, and skiers than I do 5'-11", 300lb participants of those activities. If you're tall and you climb or ski in wet weather, you can remove First Ascent from consideration. Which is sad. The funny thing is, Eddie Bauer has always carried tall rain shells, maybe in because of all the work they did with the very tall Whittaker family on the original American Everest expedition, and then again with Peter Whittaker on the First Ascent launch five or 10 years ago.For the past 30 years, I've been able to count on getting a tall-length technical jacket from EB. But for the past two winters they've skunked me. My current tall first ascent shell is in tatters and I'll be forced to go to another brand. On the positive side: if I wake up some morning having shrunk 5" and gained 100lbs, I know I'll be able to find First Ascent "climbing" gear that fits.
