Good range of motion. Works well with light layering in sub-freezing temps. Used them downhill skiing in snowy, windy, and sunny conditions. Kept me warm in the cold and the fabric breathed well when warmer. Would not want to sit on a wet ski lift chair as they are not waterproof. Enjoyed the technical features; four zip pockets, thigh cooling side zips, snow cuffs, and lace hooks.

Great fit with minor flaws

I loved these pants until I tried to pull the recessed lace attachment out of the sleeve. I was able to attach to my boot lace after some effort and then had a difficult time removing it. What a nightmare. It was cold yet on a very cold day I wouldn't even try. I've never seen such a compact little sliver of metal recessed in the front of a gaiter with room for little more than dental floss. I have a hard time understanding this design. I can't imagine a First Ascent tester saying: "this is it! The final design. This super compact, hard to access, hook that will never let go of your lace (if you can get it on)". My thought was "why bother?" and I promptly returned the pants. Whomever designed this please get in touch with me and explain. Otherwise if you don't plan on using this "feature" or the eyelets on the sides of the pant legs then you'll probably love these pants.

Sizing difficulties

2

The "star" rating system doesn't fit the experience. I have an athletic build where under the fit layout of these pants my legs and butt require a size 44 but my waist requires a 40. So, the fit of these pants are such that the designers must have figured that someone with my legs and butt must also have a big stomach/waist. Not true. These pants were returned.

Sizing is off.

2

The length to waist ratio compared to most pants is off. What I mean by that is that for most normal-sized people, these pants will either fit in the waist but be too short in the leg or fit just right in the leg lenght but be too big in the waist.
