I originally purchased this bag as a way to transport all my camping gear for a weeklong camping trip in Denali National Park last year after considering several options. The bag was roomy enough to fit my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, trekking poles, and all my other gear and clothes with room to spare. I literally lived out of this bag the entire trip, including an additional week spent exploring Anchorage and the Kenai peninsula. The material is super-durable and has held up very well in some tough conditions, including as checked luggage when flying, and in the rain. I also recently used it to transport my gear for a week of camping at Mount Hood National Forest. It does get quite heavy when fully filled, though that is to be expected as the bag really is very large. I appreciate that the bag has multiple different straps for several options to carry it. The shoulder straps weren't really helpful for me as a petite 5'-1" tall woman - I found it nearly impossible to swing a fully loaded bag up onto my shoulders. When not in use the bag folds up into one of the side pockets for compact and easy storage, which is prefect for my Chicago apartment.
