I'm not sure why there are low reviews- the quality is equal to previous years and the new seaming details on the sides are very flattering. The neck is not low at all when buttoned. If you like a more open look you can unbutton as much as you like. The fabric is lighter so it might not be ideal for the depths of winter but it's a great layering piece or great for spring and fall.

I was hesitant to order this top because of some of the reviews but did in the reddish color. I would have liked the ivory but was afraid to order it after another review talked about how sheer it was. This one is not thin at all and a nice "donegal" type fabric (although they're calling it heather). The one problem is that it does run small. I'm almost always an EB small and this has to be exchanged for med.

After being on the 'hunt' for a basic, long sleeved, waffle knit top for our damp British Columbia Fall/Winter for quite a while now and being dramatically disappointed by an offering by one of your competitors (their waffle knit was a beautiful colour and had surprisingly long sleeves but the overall length of their shirt barely hit my navel!) I came to the Eddie Bauer Canada site skeptical that I'd find a waffle knit top to fit my 6'2", rather thick-ish frame. I was incorrect. Upon receiving my Tall, XXL Stine's Favourite Thermal Henley in the mail at work, I promptly stripped out of my scrubs to try it on. The sleeves were long! The overall length was long! And not disproportionately long either but rather, a length designed for a lass of a taller stature. The general fit is very pleasant too, 'fitted', meant to follow a woman's curves without being clingy like a wet shirt or a "best not thought about" ex partner. It was as if the angels had made a shirt just for me! The knit is thick enough to be sufficient for a BC Fall day but thin enough to layer under a fleece for a West Coast Winter and the stitching appears to be of quality but, as I've never ordered from Eddie Bauer before, I can't speak to whether the shirt has strayed from the quality of previous iterations. So far, I am enjoying this shirt so much and the general fit of it (with my extreme height and size, it's difficult to find well fitted clothing) that I've already ordered another 2 to have on hand. Thank you Eddie Bauer for understanding that bodies come in all shapes and sizes.
