These worked well for me. I have a hard time finding shoes and boots that fit well. I'm still in pretty good shape, but I'm not 'young', young. These are amazingly comfortable. I specifically needed a leather boot for foot stability. I experimented and first wore them around the house w/out socks and they were comfortable, then w/only a thin sock, then w/ a thicker sock. Each time the boot was comfortable, which I think is unusual. I wear mostly a size 9 and these were good in that my toes had the appropriate amount of room and didn't hit the shoe. I feel that they are true to size. I like the brass ovals and the brass hooks for the laces, a much easier way to go. They are comfortable both laced all the way to the top hook, and with the top-most hook unhooked, which is how I will pby wear them (with the long lace bow-tied twice). I'm thrilled with the new technology of a gusseted tongue. One of my pet peeves with shoes/boots that had laces, and why I stopped buying shoes w/laces, was that the tongue always slid to the side. What good is that! These boots are nicely padded in all the right places. There's a pull-tab on the back of the boot. They're lightweight - and this is important for me because I'm not a youth and my feet are delicate. Soles are rugged and probably will outlast me. And what I consider a bonus, they are really good looking on my feet. I can't find a thing wrong with this product and usually I can find something. I am pleased with my purchase.

I got them 1/2 size bigger. I have walked and hiked in them at al kinds of terrain and had no issues with blisters or any kind of foot issues. I needed, though, put a gel insert that I got in Europe( all depends on the kind of foot you have). Today , I finished 57 miles/ 4 days walking in them and enjoyed every moment of it due to these wonderful boots. Great on wet, rocky, roots, steep hikes.

Hiked 30 miles in 4 days, up and down 3 mountains with varying weather conditions. Was the only one in my backpacking group who did not get blisters and my feet were not sore. I spent a few weeks breaking them in- getting them wet helps to break them in faster (and they are definitely waterproof). I have high arches and these gave me excellent support. They are very well cushioned and are far more comfortable than any other pair I've owned. We ended up having to speedwalk and run 6 miles in 3 hours to make it to the next campsite, so I put on another pair of socks and these boots got me through. They're also very lightweight for boots, let alone for leather boots. The boots arrived several days faster than expected. The Vibram soles were amazing for the bouldering and climbing sections of Dragon's Tooth. I love everything about these boots. I am not sponsored by Eddie Bauer and these boots are the first product I have ever bought from them. They definitely will not be the last.
