The hat is called "sombrero"...it is therefore (obviously) a sombrero-style hat. It is not goofy, unless you do not like sombrero hats. I love this hat because it comes in sizes...I purchased the Xl/XXL --- love it!!! I am female, with a large head. The size is a little large for me, but doesn't leave a indent on my forehead....and I hate tight hats-- and there is the chin strap to secure the hat. Currently I've worn it as a sun hat (temperature is cool here but sunny)... something that I did not anticipate (thought I'd only wear it as a rain hat). I would buy this hat again if it came in white or beige. This hat would be packable, as long as you can lay it flat. Not sure about bending it, as the brim might not recover. PLEASE bring this hat back in a light colour (e.g. beige). I bought it in black to use a rain hat, but would like it in a light colour for taking to the beach!!!

I like this hat even better than I thought I would. My jacket hoods always fall down to my eyes and drive me nuts. This little gem of a sombrero keeps the rain off my face and I can see where I'm going!
