We were hiking in borderlands between Tetons and Yellowstone mid-June at particularly chilly, somewhat rainy time, and these pants were a life-saver. I wore them one day with leggings and another day with tights. Admittedly, the rubberized interior would not be very comfortable without a base layer. I liked how the waist was adjustable with velcro tabs, and the zippered pocket was sufficiently deep for supplies (although bear spray required an EB collapsible backpack). The EB hiking poles were also in use; in fact, I looked like a walking advertisement for Eddie Bauer.

I gave these pants a test bike ride in the pouring rain and came back completely dry. i was out for 2 hours and the water beaded up and never soaked through. I took them off and gave them a shake and they were totally dry.

I bought my usual size but I should have bought a size larger if I want to wear leggings.
