Super Sevens Rain Jacket

I originally purchased this to be my first "real" rain jacket shortly after moving to the wet and sloppy PNW. So far, I'm impressed! It's got a fantastic fit and the quality is unmatched. I've used this jacket hiking, biking, and even on a motorcycle during a downpour. After 10-20 wears, I have noticed the arms let a very minute amount of water through, but the front and back panels have kept me dry with zero complaints. I would not recommend this for high output cycling or strenuous hiking(say, up a large mountain), though that is not a recommended use. For more "leisure" activities(casual hiking, walking in the rain, etc.) it's been a fantastic layer. I've doused this jacket in mud during rides, worn it through torrential downpours, and even cycled-commuted without complaint, though sweat does tend to get stuck if it's extra humid out. This would be a great layer if you were to do muddy shuttle laps on a mountain-biking descent, or backcountry resort skiing late into the season when it's wet, warm, and slushy. I also really like the pockets.

I was super excited for this lineup, and still am. Only have the rain jacket so far, due to waiting for sales. Pros: The First Ascent large tall cut fits me great, which cannot be said for many other brands. Eddie really accommodates long arms well, without getting unusably slim. Some other brands will have the sleeves/back lock up tight for overhead or arms forward positions. The pockets on this jacket are mesh lined and seem to double as core vents. The lime/yellow color is plenty bright. This is on the slim side, I believe there is room for the prescribed layers, but not something like the Microtherm jacket. weight for my large tall with tags still attached is 236 grams, pretty good. I could not see which pocket ( or whether there is one) it is supposed to stow/pack into, but it fits into its own hood with tons of room to spare. Would like some more reflective detail on it, if you buy yellow you care about visibility. Pleased to see the material is some light nylon ripstop. The laminate aspect is a polyurethane coating on the inside. Not really sure what sets this apart and justifies the higher price than say a precip or helium jacket from the competitors, other than for me the cut is better. Look forward to putting some usage into it - this piece is being saved for backpacking/dayhiking and carrying on long bike rides due to its small size and weight.
