This jacket was bought for my husband who has to walk 10 minutes from his car to work place building in chilly nevada temperatures. Its been as low as 11 to 17 degrees and he stays very warm and toasty. He cant praise this jacket enough. Its not stiff in the arms like other winter jackets. He is no longer cold on his upper body, he has to take it off in the car because he gets to hot.. I was unsure about wanting to buy such an expensive jacket, but it is durable material and it will last many years. Best of all it keeps him from freezing. So it is worth the money paid. I do recommend purchasing this coat.

    Great jacket!
    Dec 16, 2019

I wanted a cold weather jacket that was good in the field, but looks nice enough for a night out and landed on the Mountain Ops. No horribly difficult conditions yet, but a hike at a local park at around 36 degrees was delightful - felt super warm and comfortable the whole time. A day at the zoo in the mid thirties was also a breeze - even when the temperature dropped after sundown, with nothing particularly warm underneath. There are also a lot of great design details. The interior at the top of the zipper is lined with a super soft material that's comfortable against my chin even immediately after shaving. The pockets are designed with the insulation on the outside, so contents (including hands) will stay pretty warm inside. In fact, I didn't have gloves on during either of the aforementioned outings - just stuck my hands in the pockets. Enough pockets to hold anything you could reasonably be carrying. The little straps on the zippers are made of a flexible material that seems pretty strong, and is pretty grippy, so using them with gloves or mittens should be easy. In a light rain, the water seems to bead on the shell, but haven't tested it against a downpour - probably never will, since I wouldn't be wearing it in warmer temperatures. We'll see how it holds up over time, but so far, I couldn't be happier!
