Eddie Bauer One Outside LGBTQIA+ Film Grant Official Terms

Outdoor experiences should be for everyone

At Eddie Bauer, we believe that outdoor experiences should be for everyone – regardless of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, mental and physical ability, or age.

In acknowledgement that outdoor spaces are not always a welcoming place for all, it’s our mission to bring the benefits of the outdoors to all communities, particularly those who have been underrepresented.  Eddie Bauer will award up to six $10,000 film grants (each a “Grant”) to filmmakers who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

To learn more about the efforts Eddie Bauer has underway to promote accessibility and equality in our community and industry visit:

The following terms and conditions (the “Terms”) govern a Grant:

Beginning on or about February 3, 2022, you may apply for a Grant by (i) reviewing the Terms set forth herein, and (ii) completing a Grant application posted on Eddie Bauer’s website [HYPERLINK TO APPLICATION].  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 11:59 P.M. (PST) TO BE INCLUDED IN THE APPLICATION REVIEW PROCESS.  ONLY ONE (1) APPLICATION PER PERSON AND/OR FILM PROJECT WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE REVIEW PROCESS.

  • 2/3/2022 (8:00AM PST) Grant Applications Open
  • 3/17/2022 (11:59PM PST) Grant Application Deadline, subject to change at Eddie Bauer’s sole discretion.
  • Mid-April – Target for announcement of selected Grant recipients
  • September 30, 2022 – Last day for film project completion and delivery, subject to change at Eddie Bauer’s sole discretion.

  • You identify as a member of LGBTQIA+ communities.
  • You are a legal resident of the 50 United States, D.C. and Puerto Rico who, as of February 2, 2022, is at least 18 years of age.
  • You are a filmmaker, or member of a filmmaking team.
  • You pitch your film project and submit further explanation (if required) to a review committee.
  • You complete your film before the end of 2022, subject to change at Eddie Bauer’s sole discretion.
  • Your film’s subject matter is relevant to the outdoors or outdoor adjacent topics.
  • You enter into a non-exclusive license agreement with Eddie Bauer to use, display, and publish the film, if your film project is awarded a Grant.

Eddie Bauer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to verify facts and conduct background checks to confirm an applicant’s eligibility. Eddie Bauer reserves the right to exclude any application from the Grant Application Review Process (described below) at any time if it reasonably believes that the applicant has breached any of the Terms, or if applicant’s film project is contrary to, prohibited or restricted by local law where the applicant is legally residing or the film project takes place at the material time. In this case, such application will be treated as void immediately without notice. Eddie Bauer holds the final decision on the eligibility of all applicants.

  • An advisory panel made up of community leaders with a diverse background in the arts, storytelling, and the outdoors, will join a small group of Eddie Bauer leadership to review Grant applications.
  • Applications will be judged on a variety of criteria including, but not limited to, alignment with the Grant program’s goals of telling stories that help all people feel invited, accepted, and validated in their full range of outdoor experiences, originality and creativity, artistic merit, and perceived ability to complete the Grant project within the timeline.
  • Additional information, materials, or explanations may be requested from the applicants.

  • You will receive $10,000 in payment installments throughout 2022 with final payment upon completion and submission of the film to Eddie Bauer before the end of 2022 (submission date subject to change at Eddie Bauer’s sole discretion). The Grant money is to be used for the film project expenses including travel, gear, crew, location fees, professional services, licensing, and other production costs.
  • You will receive limited production support (if you require it), including permit assistance, edit reviews, and guidance.
  • You will receive Eddie Bauer products to aid in your production.
  • You will receive platform support from Eddie Bauer channels and partners, to promote your film.
  • You will maintain ownership and rights to your film project (subject to a non-exclusive license for Eddie Bauer to use, display, prepare derivative works, and publish the film).
    • You will submit three 0:60 second – 0:90 second cuts of final film footage for Eddie Bauer to use as a video trailer or film teaser in the promotion of both the completed film project and the One Outside Film Grant program.
      • You will grant Eddie Bauer the right to edit these short video assets to create additional video trailers or film teasers for distribution across Eddie Bauer brand marketing channels.
    • If you intend to submit your film to any film festivals, you will notify Eddie Bauer as soon as reasonably possible so that both parties can agree on final video assets to be delivered to Eddie Bauer.

  • Studio renovations or capital construction.
  • Reimbursement of expenses already incurred.
  • Promotional fees or expenses of the film project.

  • A Grant is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied. Any federal, state and local taxes on any Grant and all costs and expenses associated with Grant acceptance and use not expressly specified herein as being provided are the sole responsibility of the respective recipient. There is a limit of one (1) Grant per person or film project. Each Grant is non-transferable. All Grant details and related deadlines are at Eddie Bauer’s sole discretion.
  • Each Grant recipient will be required to enter into a non-exclusive license agreement (together with any other documents that may be requested by Eddie Bauer) with Eddie Bauer to use, display, and publish the film.
  • If a recipient does not identify as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, the Grant may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate applicant who identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Each Grant recipient acknowledges that Eddie Bauer has neither made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any Grant, including but not limited to its condition or fitness for a particular purpose.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN APPLICANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE IS A VIOLATION OF CIVIL LAW. SHOULD AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, EDDIE BAUER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Eddie Bauer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the application process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the application of a Grant program or any element thereof and Eddie Bauer may select to award a Grant using all eligible, non-suspect applications received as of the date of action requiring such termination. Should any provision of these Terms be deemed unenforceable or invalid, the other provisions of these Terms shall remain in full force and effect.

By participating in the application process, each applicant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless all Entities (defined as Eddie Bauer, and all sponsors and administrators of a Grant, along with their respective parent entities and subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, assigns, directors, officers, employees, attorneys and agents) from and against any and all injuries, losses, damages, claims and actions of any kind arising from or relating to participation in application for a Grant, or acceptance, possession, use, misuse or nonuse of any Grant that may be awarded, including, without limitation, actual, direct, indirect, consequential, punitive, special, or other damages. By accepting a Grant, each recipient further releases all of the Entities from any and all claims, liability, loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the awarding, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of any Grant or participation in any Grant-related activity.

Eddie Bauer reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the application of a Grant program in whole or in part, without advance notice (in the case of Puerto Rico, the Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs (“DACO”) will be notified in advance and cancellation or suspension is subject to DACO’s authorization) should virus, bugs, technical malfunctions or other causes beyond Eddie Bauer’s control corrupt the administration, security, or proper play of the application for a Grant program. Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of the application for a Grant program, or whom Eddie Bauer believes to be causing malfunction, error, disruption, or damage, or who is not in compliance with these Terms will be disqualified and any associated Grant claim will be void.

Except as expressly provided in the Terms to arbitrate, no claim may be joined with another dispute or lawsuit, or consolidated with the arbitration of another claim, or resolved on behalf of similarly situated persons, or brought as private attorney general or on another similar representative basis. For any claim subject to arbitration, you may not participate in a class action in court or in a class-wide arbitration, either as a plaintiff or claimant, class representative or class member.

Each person who participates in the application for a Grant fully and unconditionally agrees to comply with and abide by these Terms and the decisions of Eddie Bauer, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
