At a young age, Michael Pepi began designing and tying his own flies and sold them to fisherman for trips from the flats of Florida to the steelhead rivers of the North. He continued pursuing his passion for the outdoors while attending St. Lawrence University, located in the famous St. Lawrence Seaway Valley. With degrees in English and Environmental Studies, he also carries a New York State guide's license. His specialty is guiding for trout and steelhead.
Michael has gone after bonefish in the Florida Keys, permit fish in the Yucatan of Mexico, large trout in the spring creeks of Montana, steelhead in the rivers of New York, salmon in Alaska, and striped bass in the saltwater flats of New England. He has hunted the Texas Brush Country for whitetails, Canada for black bears, Florida for alligators, and has started his sheep-hunting career with a large free range Aoudad. A respected goose and duck caller, he can be found in a blind every fall.
Under the guidance of Styles Bridges, one of the top English setter trainers in the country, Michael recently began his dog-training career. His focus is on setters, for hunting and field trial, and many have become very successful in the field trial circuit. He has also worked at the prestigious Pawling Mountain Club's West Mountain Kennel, guiding and training Labrador Retrievers. There he expanded his knowledge and understanding of all varieties of gun dogs.
Michael has no off-season. He is currently filming mountain sheep and goat hunts, and will be traveling the world for the next five years. Whether he is bird hunting, fly fishing, or dog training he is always in search of a new adventure.
Fits really well and has dog transmitter pockets, which you need to hold your gear. Michael Pepi
