        Comments about Stargazer 3-Person Tent:

I purchased this tent for the good space to weight ration, full features, and excellent head room. Wanted to use this for car camping and luxurious backpacking trips. Two items experienced on my first trip out have me returning.

1 - No stakes - for 4 bills I would expect at least some cheap-o stakes would be included. Fortunately there were plenty of rocks, but now I have several small pieces of accessory cord instead of 1 long one.

2 - The fabric is very light - I would say the fly is half the weight of my other 3 season tent (MH). Great for weight, but when I left it alone during the day I returned to find a tear at the fly to end of tent pole attachment point. I know from the amount of sand and dust in everybody's tents that it got a little breezy, but we are talking <40 mph winds.

Ultimately, I just can't fall in love - yes, the stakes are more of an inconvenience, and the layout is nice and roomy, but fabric durability concerns make me nervous.

Southern Utah didn't provide an opportunity to have to stay dry, but even the floor fabric was pretty light weight - definitely recommend the footprint if you go with this tent.

Eddie - I love most of your stuff - just think this one needs a little bit of work.

        And some stakes.

          Comments about Stargazer 3-Person Tent:

I just returned from a five day backpacking trip to the Bridger Wilderness Area in Wyoming. I used the Stargazer 3 tent and camped in luxury the whole time. The tent went up easily and was very roomy inside. Little touches mean a lot, like the glow in the dark zipper tabs. Be sure to buy the footprint for this tent. It works great.

          Comments about Stargazer 3-Person Tent:

this tent meets all of my backcountry needs for a multi-person tent. yes, for three people, you'd better know each other pretty well, but you could definitely manage. for two people, and a lot of gear, a dog, or whatever, this is downright spacious. the stargazer fits as a lightweight tent...it carried easily even while gaining vertical to use as a basecamp for summit bids in the colorado backcountry. setup was simple...as was takedown. i had no issues repacking the tent poles as previously described, having practiced in the backyard. i was surprised that with the profile of the tent being a bit high the wind didn't take it for a ride... but during the nights when the continental divide winds were howling, it stood firm, with no flapping or other issues whatsoever. lots of room inside, and in the vestibules outside, for everything we brought for a multi-day adventure.

hey, i know the price is a bit on the high side...but EB/FA has so many sales that it turned out to be very reasonable. and i don't mind spending the money on a piece of gear that works like it's supposed to, is constructed well, and gets me home safe...

honestly, i don't usually gush about a piece of gear...but this tent was just as advertised...everything i neeed, and nothing i didn't.
