Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Peak XV Down Jacket:

Just received this parka about a week ago. Scooped it up at 50% off. We've had some wicked cold weather this winter (like -30C windchill) and so far this baby has been super toasty. I'm 5'10" and 193 lbs, and I ordered an XL — I don't like tight winter clothing and I wanted to make sure I had room for a fleece or sweater if the occasion dictated. Very happy with the fit & quality. My only gripe is the complete absence of any colour options. I appreciate that this particular blue colour is what EB has traditionally used for its Ascent line, but.....

Jacket warm in single digit and below temperatures. We have been twenty degrees below normal for an extended period of time. The jacket is not bulky.

Very close to being perfect (with two fixes)

              By NA

              from Washington

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Peak XV Down Jacket:

Everything about this down jacket / parka is fantastic, but two fixes would make it even better:

              1) MORE down is needed in the arms: there are very noticeable cold-spots in the crease of the elbow, when your arms are even slightly bent, like when putting your hands in the coat pockets. This is due to down migrating away from the elbow crease, meaning more down is required to fill voids and eliminate the cold spots.

              2) MORE down in the top of the shoulder / traps: the shoulders are a common area for wear (and compression, if you're wearing a pack, as the shoulder straps compress everything). Over time, you'll lose more heat from your shoulders due to wear and compression.
