World's Best Down®

Our First Ascent guide team built this ultralight jacket for alpine climbing in cool to cold weather. Windproof ripstop polyester shell. Each cluster of the super high-loft 800 fill StormDown insulation is also treated with a DWR finish so the down retains its loft and superior insulating properties even in wet conditions.

"It's made specifically to be a very lightweight layer with down, which makes it lighter than any kind of other insulation and very compact and packable. When you wear it, you hardly know you have it on."
Ed Viesturs, Eddie Bauer Alpine Guide

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's MicroTherm StormDown Jacket:

The changes made to this jacket has not done anything to improve the jacket. All changes made it simply made it a cheap jacket that I no longer want to wear. I've been buying Eddie Bauer jackets for the last 5 years. The jackets are cheap in terms of material, quality and workmanship. I am switching back to Mountain Hardwear, just purchased the Ghost Whisperer down jacket.

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's MicroTherm StormDown Jacket:

Love this garment, purchased a blue and black two years ago. Purchased two more this year at 40% off sale.
Feels good on and looks great, lots of body and sleeve length. 6'4'' 240 lbs, XLT is perfect for me.

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's MicroTherm StormDown Jacket:

I've left this product in it's plastic and am returning it as soon as I have time this week. This is not a technical ultra light down jacket that could be used in mountaineering, despite what the description reads. I've got two other down jackets, and ordered this one so that I could have a back up for when I send my patagonia jacket in for a zipper repair. Unfortunately, this is NOT a keeper. The quality of this jacket when I look at it closely next to my Outdoor Research Transcendent hoody or my Patagonia Down Sweater is an absolute joke. The sleeve cuff material was the final straw for me. It looks like something that would come in a children's toy. The amount of down in the sleeves and torso area is noticeably lacking, even when i deliberately tried to let it "loft" up. Everything about this down jacket feels cheap. I honestly think if I took this into the backcountry on an alpine climb, I would suffer.

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's MicroTherm StormDown Jacket:

Light weight jacket with good warmth. Athletic fit that allows full range of motion and helps if layering. Panels under armpit enable movement and work like pit zips. Medium fits great, 5' 91/2 " 160 lb. sits 4 inches below waist in back. Strong, thin zippers that function nicely. Good size zip pockets with convent big inner pockets. Great looking jacket. I bought storm color.
