Ed Viesturs

"It's made specifically to be a very lightweight layer with down. That makes it lighter than with any other kind of insulation, very compact, and packable. When you wear it, you hardly know you have it on."

    Comments about Men's MicroTherm® StormDown® Jacket:

I have tried 3 different versions of this jacket and just can't get one that fits right. I am 6'4 about 225lbs so not a slender person but not huge either. I do climb a bit, ever year or so I make trips to Rainier, Hood, etc. so I really wanted this later to work. I love EB and typically get Large Tall and it is perfect for me (hoodies, shirts, etc). Unfortunately I have tried 3 different Microtherms and none worked.

Microtherm 1: was a few years ago but was defective so returned. I did fit great but no more my size at the time so no exchange. Size Large Tall.

Microtherm 2: purchased this year, Large Tall. too tight to really get it zipped. It seems like they went from athletic cut to very athletic cut since the first one I had.

Microtherm 3: purchases this year, XLarge Tall. fits but is baggy enough to put on a sweater and hoody underneath. Waste is to loose and billowy. Just not a good fit.

It seems like these went from an LT being perfect, to being way to athletic a cut. Then the XLT was massive. So unfortunately not for me. Gonna have to return a third one and look for a different option, perhaps an Ingitelite.

If this fits you I recommend it, if it doesn't just know that it isn't you :)

    My second one

        Comments about Men's MicroTherm® StormDown® Jacket:

We're fortunate to have an EB store nearby which helps with the fit challenge.
This is my second jacket. The first one is finally wearing and acquiring an odor. It has kept me warm as a commuter jacket for long winter rides to ski country and as a under jacket to my EB First Ascent shell for skiing (the odor source). It's kept me warm and the sweat has stuck. It's at least 6 years old and well used.
The new jacket still has me wondering. I'm 5'8" 160 lbs. I bought a medium. Small was to small. The shoulders are big for me. Others have noted this as a plus or an issue. This makes the arms fall weird like they almost stick straight out. I'm hoping this breaks in and the arms drop more.
I got a good deal on it after the sale price and an added coupon.
I'm hooked on chest pockets (Napolean pockets). The perfect place for my phone for easier access and warmth while I ski.

Horribly sized & then worse customer service in store!

        Comments about Men's MicroTherm® StormDown® Jacket:

Arms were extremely long yet overall fit was perfect. Returned back to store for refund. Turned out they still had several on the rack in the store even though I got mine on clearance online. They had a size that fit me perfect but they would not do an even exchange since I paid a clearance price online. Pretty typical Eddie Bauer customer service these days. Got full refund from EB and found a very similar jacket at a competitor for less than EB clearance price and it fits and wears great and found out that it is very waterproof after last hike.

A great commuter coat. Warm, light weight, not bulky and packs into a small pocket in my commuter backpack.
