Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Storm Ops Parka:

Highly recommend this Parka for Cold weather. It's wind proof and will keep you warm in sub zero temps. It's a very versatile jacket. It looks and feels good walking the streets of New York City or on Ski Slopes. It's also priced right. For the money you can't beat it.

    ALMOST! ... So close! ... Add a 2-way zipper = perfect coat

    By From-Away

    from Maine

    Pros

    • Everything-other than no two-way / double zipper

    Cons

    • No two-way (double) zipper

    Best Uses

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Storm Ops Parka:

As pointed out by previous reviewers ... The designers made one flaw on this coat ... No two-way (double) zipper. With the added length of this coat (which is much appreciated!), a two-way (double) zipper is REQUIRED. One cannot easily sit or bend at the waist when the coat is zipped. Other than the lack of a two-way (double) zipper, this coat has all the bases covered. And yes, I still recommend this coat.

      Almost Great for Commuting

      By Ric

      from Washington

      Pros

      • 50% off pricing is pretty fantastic
      • Build Quality
      • Rain and windproof

      Cons

      • No reflective markings
      • Poor ventilation

      Best Uses

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Storm Ops Parka:

This has been an ideal coat to wear while commuting via bus in rainy weather between 28 and 45 degrees. It stops the wind and rain, and the hood does a very good job protecting the head and face. The insulation is very good, but I couldn't imagine doing any activities while wearing this because of the lack of ventilation - no bottom zipper, and no underarm zippers. This coat makes me invisible at night when I'm crossing the street without streetlights. Having some reflective piping or small discreet patches would make this safer for commuting - and transform it into a near perfect coat.

Very Good, but a couple real flaws...

        By Jim

        from Minnesota

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Storm Ops Parka:

The pros and cons listed explain the major flaws. The parka is long and should have a way to unzip at the bottom when sitting or crouching down. The wrists only have a couple snaps which don't close it up enough, nor do the wrists have any elastic cuff, and cold can creep up the sleeves. On the good side, the parka is very warm. I've been wearing it in -16 fahrenheit, before wind chill, with a tshirt and very thin hoodie under it and am perfectly warm. This parka has two more things which make it a great cold weather work jacket. The outer material is windproof, very tough and can take some scrapes, and the number and size of pockets is fantastic. I can find the same warmth elsewhere, but the pockets and material toughness make this coat stand out. I'm 6'1", 235 with a 48.5 inch chest and the XXL fits perfect.
