Med Tall

By Brad

from Yukon

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

For reference, I'm 6'2 and wear a 15.5 dress shirt with longer 36" sleeves. 40" chest. 32" waist. Basically I'm a Medium Tall. I worried when I see the medium tall worked for my taller friend here at 6'5". For me, the sleeves are long enough that when I raise my arms and tech straight forward, they stay at the wrist without riding up. As such, they feel a little long when arms are at my side but the (maybe too loose) cuff keeps the sleeve from sliding down past my wrist. The length in the body is perfect. Just long enough to cover access to my pants pockets, and not ride up past my belt when I crouch down or bend over but not too long at all. Chest is good. Feels nice and fitted. I could wear a merino with wool midweight and a light mid layer underneath if required but nothing bulky. A regular hoody for instance would feel pretty compressed and unpleasant. You'll want merino wool and midweight fitted fleece or wool midlayer if you need extra heat.

I wear mine under an uninsulated goretex shell for rain and wind protection.

Great warm jacket

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

Really good jacket. It fits a little bigger around the body than the matching vest that I bought in the same size, but that is no bad thing. I am 6'5" with long arms and slim, M Tall fits perfectly. Rare to find something long enough but not over-size drowning. Good tight hem stretch/adjustment to keep out draughts, every bit as warm as a very expensive Arcteryx down jacket that I also own. I bought in the deep maroon, and its a nice colour, flock lined pockets a nice touch.

Broad range of athletic sizes.

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

Really appreciated the review that recommended trying a smaller size but in tall. I had to special order to get the size I needed. The fit was perfect (broad in the shoulders and trim in the waist).

This is my second Downlight jacket. I also have a vest to wear underneath for layering in the cold. I wore the old one for everything and it took a beating.

The broad range of athletic sizes offered by Eddie Bauer has made them a favorite. I hope they take this approach with the new Stormdown jacket. It did not fit me.
