Runs big

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

I wanted to love this coat; there's a lot to like. It's fairly stylish, seems to be a quality build, and an excellent value for the money. The sleeves and hem are the perfect length. The collar is snug enough without being too tight or loose. It's windproof and the down is treated; both make this a killer value especially when purchased on sale. My biggest issue is the fit. It's just too big around the lower torso; really big, especially for a medium. This compromises how warm it could be; if it was more form fitting it would be quite toasty. A couple of other small issues, prior versions of this had two large interior pockets. The other thing l liked on the previous version was the First Ascent label was on the front, not the sleeve.

My New Favourite Jacket!

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

I love this jacket! the 800 fill makes it warm, but it is super lightweight and very warm. even in cold weather, I only need a shirt underneath. if below freezing, a lighter extra layer is all I need. I love it. cozy! I'm 5'8" tall and 160 lbs and a Small fits me perfectly. The new outer material is water repellent. I wouldn't say it's good for a rain storm, but It keeps the down dry. this beats my old "puffy" North Face jacket (also 800 fill) which made me like a Michelin man. I love this jacket!

Good jacket, but the branding is wrong

      By CD

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

The only knock on the current jacket is where the Eddie Bauer and First Ascent logos are placed. I bought this jacket a few years ago when the FA logo was on the front as opposed to being on the sleeve where it is now. I am holding out from purchasing a new one until they bring the FA logo back to the chest. Too bad they are so insistent on rebuilding the EB brand by placing it in the primary logo location.

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's Downlight StormDown Jacket:

Only disappointed with durability. Warm to single digits, great fit and look. Super light....But catches too easily and rips. Returned one, second one just ripped. Neither lasted 2 weeks. I am an office worker not a lumberjack. Very sad, i really liked it.
