"The BC Downlight is downright made right. I appreciate the extra length for keeping the belt/harness exposure zone warm and cozy. The piece is just lofty enough to keep me comfortable, but not so thick that it gets in my way. I love being able to wear it out in a messy snow squall without worrying about my feathers getting wet."

Very Disappointed

By CPNY

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's BC Downlight StormDown Jacket:

Very disappointed with this purchase. Very little down fill in the sleeves of this jacket is instantly noticeable once you wear it outside. The jacket is worth about $29!

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's BC Downlight StormDown Jacket:

I ordered this jacket online and I must say when it arrived I was truly surprised at how thin and light it was. I said there's no way this will keep me warm. I tried it on that night just to see how it fit and I barely pulled the toggle to tighten the hood and the toggle popped off. The good thing is when you buy from a company like EB they will replace it. So the next day here in nyc the high was 25 degrees so I put on a T-shirt a regular shirt in my new jacket. I waited outside in wind gust of about 30 miles per hour and the temp was around 22 degrees. I must say I was totally comfortable my face and legs got cold but not any area where my jacket covered. I love the jacket and I'm going to send it back for another one just like it( because of the toggle issue). I would definitely recommend this jacket

    Warm and light

    By Albert

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's BC Downlight StormDown Jacket:

Could have been a great jacket but I had to returned mine as the zipper underneath the arm is very sharp and scratching my skin even with a thin layer. Unfortunately, it's been a month and the replacement is nowhere to be found. Customer service always tell me to wait for 2 weeks. By the time I get the jacket, it will be summer. Sorry Eddie, but you just lost a loyal customer for 13 years. I always spend $200-$500 a month to buy from your store. I guess it's time to check other store I heard they have a great customer service.

    Not as warm as expected

    By Pete from T.O.

    from Ontario

    Pros

    • 3 inner pockets
    • Light
    • Waterproof

    Cons

    • Not enough down insulation
    • Only 1 zipper
    • Overpriced for the lack of down insulation

    Best Uses

Comments about First Ascent|Men|Jackets & Vests Men's BC Downlight StormDown Jacket:

This is a nice lightweight, good looking winter jacket offering good waterproof qualities. The down insulation is lacking and quite thin in the arms and shoulders. The hood and main torso offers good insulation. Unfortunately you need to layer up to get enough warmth but that will restrict your movement. The arms lack fleece to prevent the cold from crawling up the arms. It only has velcro. At this price point, it is not good value even when on sale. The fact it only has one zipper means it is very uncomfortable sitting down or getting into a car.
