Comments about Kara Koram™ -30º StormDown™ Sleeping Bag:

I bought the long and am glad I did. I have had this down below -8 F and was cozy all night by lake Huron in Canada. I had no issues with condesation. I would take this anywhere, if I thought it would get cold enough. It packs down small and gets so big once you take it out of the compression bag. The first ascent products are amazing and priced well. If you want to stay warm while out in the cold elements you could not do much better then this bag.

Comments about Kara Koram™ -30º StormDown™ Sleeping Bag:

I bought this sleeping bag for a week long trip to Mt Rainier in March (in 20ft of snow at least). It kept me warm, although the temperature didn't drop below zero degrees, so I can't vouch for the -30. I do believe the temperature could hit -30, and the bag would still provide enough warmth. I slept in my baselayer with wet clothes in the bag to dry them and it was still warm. I loved this sleeping bag, because it was warm, comfortable, and has a great look. It also packs down extremely small with the compression sack, smaller than any other winter bag I've seen.
My only complaint is the pertex shell. My friend had a sleeping bag next to me in the tent with a gore-tex shell, and the snow melt on the tent would bead off of his sleeping bag all night. The pertex shell would initially bead off, however, after sleeping all night it began to soak in. Mt Rainier is very humid, so this may not be much of an issue on Denali or some other mountains, but I would still be somewhat concerned if the temperature and humidity were an issue. I dropped a star for the shell, but overall, if you can get this sleeping bag on sale, it provides a great value for one's money.
Sizing - I am 6' and bought a long. I never buy regular due to not being able to mummy inside of the bag. Also if you're using this for winter camping, you're going to end up throwing wet clothes and boot liners in the bag so sizing up is wise.
Overall I love this bag and my goal is to bring it to Denali one day. Hope this helps.

    Winter Camper

Comments about Kara Koram™ -30º StormDown™ Sleeping Bag:

As a novice camper I tested the new Kara Koram the night of February 29, 2016. A mild test for the quality of sleeping bag. Here in Wisconsin, along the shores of Lake Michigan, is Kohler-Andre State Park. The day was a mild +28f. A mild wind shifting from NE-SE coming from off the lake. I found the camp site I thought would suite my comfort. A fair grouping of trees, just below a slight hill and within view of Lake Michigan. I set about cutting up firewood from fallen branches and stocked up a nice looking pile. The sun was setting so I started a small fire in the fire pit provided by the park services at all camp sites. With the fire started I placed the evening meal on the grate to heat up. Progresso soup. I then set up the cot that I would spend the night tucked comfortably away in my new Kara Koram sleeping bag. I anticipated the temperature to fall about ten degrees as the night progressed. A clear sky to start with. I finished chow and continued to feed the fire so as to develop a nice base of embers so I could place fresh wood on without having to restart the fire. I shed my outer layers and with a First Ascent base layer with socks, I crawled into the sleeping bag. Very cozy. A slight chill on my backside from the air space between the ground and the cot. That chill disappeared after a short while. So, there I lay. All comfy staring at the stars through the silhouetted trees branches, watching the fire. Didn't sleep much due to the discomfort of a surprisingly firm cot and being a "side" sleeper. It made for a long night. In addition, too much coffee and the cold air kept me stepping out the Kara Koram every couple of hours. The base layer made the short walk very comfortable as the temps dropped to the upper teens and the wind picked up more directly from the east. Right off the lake. By 2:30 am the wind was about 10-15mph from off the lake. Snow was beginning to fall. I drew up the opening of the Kara Koram as much as possible around my face.
