Very happy with these

Comments about Men's Guide Pro Pants:

Bought pair of these for a trip to Switzerland. The fit is good and being able to order a 36 length is a bonus. The newer stretch fabric pants take a little getting used to, but once I was used to it I liked it. Two things about the stretch fabric -- (1) a belt is almost mandatory as a pack will definitely push them down over time without one, and (2) they feel a little warm since you don't get the air flow with the older ripstip type fabrics.

.Not enough belt loops

Comments about Men's Guide Pro Pants:

I wore three pairs of these pants over a three week period in April of 2017 while vacationing in Europe.

Overall these are great pants. They are durable, flexible, surprisingly warm in 40 F degree weather even in the wind, yet they don't overheat when the weather gets warm. The pockets are great and put in all the right places.

But putting only 5 belt loops on a high grade garment like this is a travesty, Since there is one loop centered in the back and the next loops are just above the hip bones it forms a tension triangle so that every time you bend over pressure is placed on the rear center seam which is then pulled directly up into your rear end. Also the material between the rear center and side belt loops has a tendency to pull down below the belt which requires frequent adjustment to get the material back up under the belt. The addition of two more belt loops on these pants would greatly help to alleviate if not completely eliminate these problems.

Yes, adding two more belt loops increases production costs but I would certainly be willing to pay a few more dollars to have two more belt loops on these pants to keep them from crawling up my back side.

Most of the pants I have seen or owned and are used for outdoor/adventure and/or strenuous activity have 7 or more belt loops on them and it only makes sense to do the same on the First Ascent Guide Pro Pants.

When the First Ascent line came out the motto was "Everything you need and nothing you don't." In this case these pants need two more belt loops because you don't need the rear center seam crawling up your rear end.

Comments about Men's Guide Pro Pants:

My first pair of Eddie Bauer's "summer pants" and I lOVE IT - much more than Linen. It looks and feels like finely woven light cotton pants, but it isn't, which makes it appealing. I got the dark grey to wear with lighter color shirts. Easy to wash and a cool/warm iron and I'm set for a week. It goes GREAT with sandals, flip-flops, and sneakers - my usual footwear. It sits loosely on my waist [got a 38, a bit too loose], wide waist band and the perfect depth for the fronts pockets.

My ONLY problem is - wish is had a Hook n' Eye closure on the waist, instead of the large button. That would give the pants a cleaner neater look at the waist.

Nice cut, not for out of shape. Works well in place of jeans as well as an excellent hiking pant. Stretch well when moving and don't chafe. Like 'em enough to have 4 pair. I use them for Skate Skiing and running in cooler weather as well as around town.
