        Comments about Men's Convector Jacket:

This is a great alternative to the Micro Therm down jacket. Primaloft is a great insulation! When it gets wet, you still stay warm. When down insulation gets wet you lose heat. This is a great jacket for a wet type of climate. Great reinforcement with the Cordura overlays. Great jacket to wear hunting or in town.

A good jacket…a great one if you get it on sale.

              Comments about Men's Convector Jacket:

I recently walked into my local Eddie Bauer and saw this jacket on sale. I had been looking for a dedicated jacket for winter sporting clays so I thought this jacket would fit the bill.

The jacket does have a trim fit. I'm 5'11" tall, 165 pounds, with a 40.5 inch chest. With a heavy weight athletic fitting wool hunting sweater underneath, a size large fits me perfectly. Most folks will need to size up as this jacket does have a very trim and athletic fit. If you're purchasing this for casual use and prefer a fit with some more room for layering it might make sense to go up a size. Try it on in a store if you can.

For its intended use, shooting, the trim fit is purposeful. When I took the jacket to the range for sporting clays I had no difficulty wearing my shooting vest over this jacket. The trim fit and lack of excess fabric really works when paired with a shooting vest.

This jacket is fairly thin; it reminds me of a liner you might put into a military field jacket. I was quite warm in 35 degree weather, but I was properly dressed and did have a heavy wool sweater on. If you're willing to wear wool layers I think this will keep you warm into the 20's. It is very easy to move while wearing this jacket. I had no difficulty mounting my over-under, and I never felt that my movement was restricted.

The collar has a super soft micro fleece lining. If you're clean shaven and are shooting, you won't have any irritation on your neck after a day at the range. Pretty basic on the inside. An interior zip pocket and a pocket on the lower right side (might be good for shooting gloves), a couple of hand-warmer pockets on the outside. Again, intended purpose; if you're using a shooting vest you'll have plenty of pockets and you won't be using the jacket pockets at all. A casual user might complain that the jacket does not have much going on in the pocket department.

The only change I would like to see is on the cuffs. They material that they are finished with (the ring that finishes the cuff) may not be that durable. After a day of shooting some of the nylon fibers are starting to stick out so this does raise some durability concerns.

Value is where this jacket falls short. A $200 msrp seems really steep for what you're getting. Sure it is a great jacket and looks the part, but I'm not sure it is $200 great. My local Eddie Bauer had it on sale for a ridiculous price and for what I paid, it is outstanding. If I was paying $200 I would give this product 3-stars, the value-for-money issue really holds the rating back. If you get it on sale, then it is a 4 or 5 star jacket.

Overall I'm giving it 4 given what I paid for it was more than reasonable, it loses a star for durability concerns and maybe I'd like to see a tad bit more insulation in the body, but not on the sleeves because that might restrict arm movement.

                    Comments about Men's Convector Jacket:

I am 6'3" 230 lbs and wear a 17 ½ - 36/37 sleeve dress shirt. I'm able to comfortably wear a nice rag wool sweater under this and not feel confined. Even with only a light weight long sleeve shirt beneath the jacket is deceptively warm. When it arrived it was horribly wrinkled and the instructions say do not dry clean, steam, or iron. I didn't want to wash it because that would remove too much of the Storm Repel DWR finish so I washed two sueded cotton henley's and hung the jacket between the two damp shirts, this released the wrinkles.

Great jacket, but runs a little small

                          Comments about Men's Convector Jacket:

The jacket itself - First of all I want to say this is a great jacket. It is great looking, well made and although light weight, it will keep you warm on chilly mornings and evenings. The color I ordered is the olive green and it is true to color. Can't say enough on workmanship and quality.

Fit - I will say it runs a bit small...at least for someone like me who traditionally orders a large. Although the jacket fits, it is tight around the shoulders and arms, so if I want to wear anything other than a t-shirt, then it will be to tight. The arms also run a tad short too. I am 5'10 205 pounds - weight lifter. If one is slender, then a large might be fine.

Eddie Bauer customer service - I returned my jacket for an XL. I called Eddie Bauer's customer service and they made it happen with no issues. In fact, they went above and beyond and are second day shipping my replacement jacket for free. Now that is what I call excellent customer service!
