    Comments about Alchemist® 40 Backpack:

Amazing backpack. I've had my eye on it for almost a year, watching the price slowly drop down from. Bought the bag and I absolutely love it! It fits comfortably and is very snug. The BFF feels great on my back and the harness fits right on my hip. There are multiple places to store little trinkets you might want to carry around with you. A couple of things I wasn't even aware of is that the pack is water bag compatible. I've used this bag around town as I have yet to take it on any trips (planning some bike trips this summer, along with some hiking/camping) and put 41.4lbs in to, didn't even notice the weight on my way home. Shout out to the Rideau Center EB store for their excellent service! I would definitely get this pack if you can still find it.

      Comments about Alchemist® 40 Backpack:

This is the second one that I have bought.

This is probably the perfect pack for Rainier (which I go up each year) and is my go to pack for Winter Mountaineering. I also use it for a 1-3 night backpack in the summer.

One of the best features is the space for a bivy pad. I replaced the factory one with a trimmed down 3/4 length Z lite (lighter weight, more insulating, but less durable) because I use the pack often in the winter and need 2 pads when doing a winter overnight. By having one built into the pack it cuts down on the bulk of trying to carry 2 sleeping pads and you always have an emergency one if you need it.

Expansion capabilities work really well when carrying a bunch of stuff to base camp and then slims down when going for the summit.

The rings to attach your crampons to are a little hard to get to (highly recessed). I cut a slight slit on the fabric over the rings and that works well and makes it easier to attach crampons.

Overall it is a great value and fits perfect for me in Winter Mountaineering. There is a reason I got a second one.

This is m y second Alchemist 40 pack. My first one, after heavy use was not destroyed, it simply went to a friend who needed a pack for a week long climbing trip and I let her keep it. It is lightweight, durable, and allows for a number of packing options.
it's a great pack, and the price...well that is hard to beat.
