    Comments about Alchemist® 25 Pack:

I love the way this pack is designed to feel like I'm not carrying anything. I just used it on a 5 day hike through Alaska's Chugach Range as a day pack once we set up base camp and the only downside was the weather. It rained (with snow some nights) constantly and I just wish this pack would have kept some of my belongings dry. I ended up putting important things that needed to stay dry in plastic bags (always be prepared right?). The upside was that even thought the pack was wet it still didn't chafe and felt like carrying a feather. I still don't quite understand how the hydration system is supposed to work without getting rain in the pack. Everything else about the pack seemed very well thought out though.

    Comments about Alchemist® 25 Pack:

I love the pack but haven't been caught out in the rain with it yet, so don't know how really water resistant it is. I've gotten lots of compliments on it.

      Comments about Alchemist® 25 Pack:

This is hands down, the best pack I've ever owned. I bought it a number of years ago when it first came out, and it has not been a disappointment. In the winter, this is my backcountry skiing pack (there is a great internal sleeve that I use for wet skins); in the summer it is my climbing pack. I can fit a couple layers, lunch, a full rack, and my rope INSIDE the pack. It's big for long multi-pitch routes, but nothing is better for the approach. I even used it to run/fast-pack the grand canyon (rim-to-rim-to-rim)!

When the bag is completely full, but not expanded to the 55L, it is a perfect carryon bag. I have traveled to a dozen countries using this as my only bag, and I've never had to check it.

        Comments about Alchemist® 25 Pack:

I thought that this was going to be just like the 40liter version, just smaller. I was wrong. My two biggest gripes are that 1) the pad doesn't come out the back like the 40L does and 2) the extension doesn't have a flap like the 40L. It just had a single strap. Side note: my ice axe loop on the left side of my bag didn't have an attachment to secure it to the bag like the one on the right side does. Overall, I was just disappointed. That all being said, Eddie Bauer has an incredible return policy, so I'm not worried about being satisfied at the end of the day.
