Kara Koram™ ParkaWEATHER RATING: ARCTIC COLD, tested to -30º F (-34ºC). In 1953, Eddie Bauer was given a challenge he couldn't refuse. An American team was attempting the first ascent of K2, the world's 2nd highest peak. They asked Eddie to build them a down mountaineering jacket. The result was the Kara Koram Parka. Dr. Charles Houston, expedition leader of the 1953 K2 climb, said it was, “The finest article of cold weather, high-altitude equipment I have ever seen.” For 30 years, it became the gold standard for high-altitude gear, chosen by many of the century's greatest expeditions, including several that made epic first ascents. Now we’ve recreated the original, including its sewn-through quilt construction. Made with 700 fill power premium northern European goose down. Updated with a 100% recycled polyester shell. Constructed with an integrated, down-insulated hood; adjustable hood, waist and hem; and rib-knit cuffs to seal out cold. Imported.Eddie Bauer - EST. 19204.18179988861084
