- In 1942, Eddie created the down-insulated B-9 Parka and A-8 Flight Pants for the U.S. Army Air Forces. The suit had to keep the fliers warm in the sub-zero temperatures of the cockpit and gun turrets. And it had the added benefit of keeping them afloat if they were shot down over water.
