Eddie Bauer opened his first Sport Shop in 1920 with one goal:

to outfit the American sportsman and sportswoman in the finest gear. In 2012, we return to this tradition with the introduction of the next generation of men's and women's hunting, fishing, and shooting clothing.

Today's Sport Shop line is the right mix of technology and tradition. It's what Eddie himself would wear today. Each item is built, tested, and perfected by our team of renowned guides. Nothing goes to market without their approval. Born in the field, Eddie Bauer Sport Shop is the newest thinking in design, fit, fabrication, and construction. From the Original Outdoor Outfitter.

Eddie Bauer himself had a long tradition of working with field experts,

which is why we are the only outfitter in the industry who crafts each product exclusively with our team of guides. Every shooting jacket and fishing vest incorporates our guide team expertise and approval.

In 2010, as a return to our roots, we brought home a puppy

in honor of Eddie and his first retriever, Blackie. Born at Sunnyview Labradors in Salem, Oregon on March 24, 2010, Eddie the Dog currently field trains at McKenna Kennels, the same Northwest kennels that trained several of Eddie's dogs in the 1960s and 1970s.

A skilled hunting dog and field competitor, Eddie is our brand ambassador and frequently appears in photo and video shoots. Most days you can find Eddie at our corporate headquarters, serving as the official inspiration of the Sport Shop.

Inspired by his first retriever, Blackie, Eddie began breeding Labs and created Wanapum Kennels in 1960. In 1974, he was named Retrieving Breeder of the Year.

Today this legacy continues as we still professionally train our retrievers at McKenna Kennels with Jim Gonia, where Bauer himself trained many dogs.
